"Profiles’ characterisation" protocol
Observations are carried out on two opposite sides of each site? :
- Along a horizontal line (transect?), use 5 m units (segments) from a geo-referenced notable point for cartography
- At two depths : 28 m and 43 m (+/- 1 m) Data collected :
- Orientation (N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, NW)
- Slope (V, S, H, O : Vertical, Sloping, Horizontal, Overhanging)
- Rugosity (Low rugosity : hand ; average rugosity : head ; Large rugosity : body)
- Lower layer’s conspicuous species percent cover : 3-5 taxa, classes of cover (+ : 0-20 % ; ++ : 20-50 % ; +++ : 50-100 %)
- Upper layer’s conspicuous species semi-quantitative abundance : 3-5 taxa, classes of abundance (+ : scarce ; ++ : abundant ; +++ : very abundant)
- Remarkable elements
- 2 to 4 full filled notepads per site
