Drosos KOUTSOUBAS is a Biological Oceanographer, Associate Professor of Marine Biology at the Department of Marine Sciences of the University of the Aegean (Greece). As a research associate of the Institute of Marine Biology of Crete (presently HCMR?) (1994-1999), and during his stay in the Dept. Marine Sciences (2000-today) he has participated either as co-ordinator or member of the research group in more than 30 EU and National funded Research projects (with a budget over 2.000.000€) such as MAST & MTP (CINCS, MATER), FAIR (CEPHVAR), LIFE-NATURE, CFP-STUDIES (CEPHACESS), INTERREG III CADSES, 5th (AQCESS, CEPHSTOCK) and 6th FP (ECOSUMMER). His research interests include Marine Biodiversity in Coastal and Deep Sea Ecosystems, Wetlands Ecology and Management, Conservation and Coastal Zone Management, Aquaculture and Marine Environment Interactions and Invertebrate Fisheries Biology (Cephalopods), in the Eastern Atlantic and the Mediterranean. He has been the supervisor in 8 PhD? Theses and has more than 120 publications (>300 citations, I.F. 45, h-index = 10) in Peer Review Scientific Journals (50), Scientific Conferences and Book Chapters. From 2010 he is the Director of the National Marine Park of Zakynthos (35 member staff Organisation) and member of the Scientific Committee of the MedPAN Association?.
